Meet Lisa

  • Lisa Ryan National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach with Total Wellness Lab

    After 25 years practicing as a physician, I decided to shift my focus from treating illness to helping people stay well. Time and again, I saw patients arrive with chronic diseases—many of which might have been prevented or eased with earlier lifestyle changes. I wanted to work with people before they became so ill, when there was still time to make a lasting difference.

    This decision was also shaped by both my own health challenges and experiences as a parent. I’ve learned how hard it can be to keep moving forward when your body is struggling, life is busy, and you know change is needed—but you’re not sure where to start. Watching my children navigate the transitions of early adulthood has deepened my understanding of how challenging moments can affect not just physical health, but also identity, motivation, and daily rhythms.

    My coaching focuses on helping people create sustainable wellness in the midst of real life. I have a particular interest in working with:

    -Young adults navigating big transitions such as college, new careers, or independent living.

    -Older adults managing chronic illness who want to feel better, stronger, and more in control

    -People seeking “Wellness on the Move”—how to maintain habits while traveling or during life’s unpredictable turns.

    Spending time in nature has become one of the most important ways I care for my own health and well-being. Being outside helps me stay grounded with what matters and reset when life gets hectic. I live in the Seattle area and spend as much time outdoors as I can— kayaking on Puget Sound, hiking, cycling, and camping. I’ve been tempted by open-water swimming, though I’m still working up the courage to brave the cold water!

    While I turn to the outdoors to find my own sense of balance, my role as a coach is to help you discover what works best for you. Whether you are facing a major life change or just trying to feel more balanced in your day-to-day, I’d be honored to support you on your journey.
